Informational Mobile Application

The Background

FriendlyCare Foundation, with funding support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), launched the e-Plano mobile application as part of its initiative to improve awareness and access to family planning services in the Philippines.

The Challenge

Family planning information is often fragmented across different sources, making it difficult for users to access clear and reliable guidance. Differences in language and health literacy further affect how information is understood.

While LGUs and healthcare providers conduct ongoing programs and outreach, connecting these initiatives with the right community remains a challenge.

The Solution

To address these challenges, ThinkBIT Solutions developed the e-Plano mobile application to help centralize family planning information and services in one platform.

The application provides reproductive health information in English and Tagalog, ensuring it caters to the target community and provides broader accessibility. It also includes offline functionality to support users in areas with limited network access.

Beyond information access, e-Plano enables service booking, method selection guidance, and appointment support to help users move from awareness to action.

It also features an LGU-linked module that supports the promotion of local health events and activities, improving coordination between healthcare providers and communities.

The Insights

e-Plano demonstrates how a digital health platform can improve both access to information and actual service delivery in family planning. By combining education, booking, and LGU coordination in one mobile app, it helps bridge the gap between awareness and action in different communities. It also shows how accessible, localized, and integrated digital tools can support public health programs at scale, especially in reaching users across multiple cities and healthcare facilities.

Improved access translates to a service update. The platform helps convert family planning awareness into actual healthcare services delivered across multiple methods.

Stronger LGU and provider coordination. Integrated tools help align local government programs with healthcare providers for more effective outreach and service delivery.

Accessible design drives inclusion. Multi-language support and offline capability ensure users can access essential reproductive health information regardless of location or connectivity.
